This award is not only a recognition of the work we have done but also a great inspiration for further work on what we want to be the world's best festival for Liverpool supporters!
Every year the supporters' club in Norway gives out an award for "Supporter of the Year". A prestigious award that is given to members who have done something extra for fellow supporters and who represent Liverpool FC in a good way. It is the 21st time the prize has been awarded and this year it was awarded to a group of people for the first time.
To receive such an award among almost 52,000 members is of course an honor and something that is difficult to digest immediately. When we were called up on stage during the Annual Meeting this week to receive the award, there were both tears and smiles among our representatives who were present.
We are and will always be a festival made by supporters, for supporters. When we started the planning a few years ago, the starting point was that we should create the festival we wanted to go to ourselves. It has always been our guideline that the festival should be a place where everyone feels included and feels that it is natural to take part in the community we facilitate. No one should walk alone, no one should stand alone, NEVER ALONE. In the video below, you can hear what Pål Christian Møller, leader of LFCSCN, and Jaran Pedersen from the Liverpool Festival have on their minds right after the award ceremony at Carls in Oslo!
This is the rationale from the board of Liverpool FC Supporters Club Norway
Every year, the supporters' club wants to celebrate someone who does something extra for fellow supporters and who represents Liverpool FC in a good way.
This is the 21st time the award has been awarded and for the first time it is awarded to a group of people who have created a unique unity within the red family. Never Alone is the motto, and this summer is the third time this group has invested both finances and a lot of free time to create something big for all the rest of us.
They never gave up on their dream, even though everything had to be postponed twice due to the pandemic. Perhaps it was actually more important than ever, that a major Liverpool event was organized in 2022. It was definitely very important for the entire Liverpool community, after a couple of difficult years with little social contact and little travel activity. In 2023, they repeated the business and by summer they will be ready again.
Betting on a festival in the middle of the summer holidays requires both courage and willingness to put in the effort. With this event, they manage to gather supporters from far and near and the participants get to experience the very best of being a Liverpool supporter - an inclusive community and good experiences together with good, red friends.
Against this background, it is a great pleasure to award the award Supporter of the Year 2024 to the Liverpool Festival in Gjøvik!
We congratulate you!
