We simply can't do without Sammy Lee at the festival. He'll be back at The Liverpool Festival 2026, with an important message!

Owen McVeigh Foundation
Yep, we love Sammy and we think everyone who has met him here before does too. He is not only a legend with an impressive career both on the football pitch and on the coaching bench, he is also a guy with a big heart. During the Liverpool Festival 2026 he will return to talk about more than football, he will also represent the Owen McVeigh Foundation.
Please spend 4 minutes on the video below and get to know the Owen McVeigh Foundation a little better, for which Sammy Lee is an ambassador. Also visit their website
A legend
Sammy Lee was part of what we must call the glory days of Liverpool. Along with legends like Kenny Dalglish, Ian Rush, Alan Hansen and Jan Mølby and (many) more, he showed what the level must be if you are to become a legend. Throughout his eight years in red, he brought home league titles and other silverware on a scale that few can dream of. He has four league championships, several British cup titles and two European Cup trophies with Liverpool on his CV. He was capped 14 times for England and has also made his mark on the scoring charts there.
Retired from the pitch in 1991!
Sammy retired in 1991 but did not leave football. In 1993 he became part of the coaching staff around Liverpool FC, under Graeme Souness and later under Evans, Houllier and Rafa Benitez. In 2001 he was called up to the national team and became assistant manager under Sven-Göran Eriksson. He also managed Bolton Wanderers from 2005, together with Sam Allardyce, the club where Lee ended his career. Together these two would manage both the England national team, Crystal Palace, West Bromwich and Everton (!) In addition, he also spent two years at Southampton as manager under Ronald Koeman
Best of!
During the Liverpool Festival 2026 we will celebrate our five years and there will therefore be reunions with several of the legends of previous years, musicians and perhaps a guest or two with close connections to LFC. At the same time, there will also be names on the poster that have not been at our festival before. If there was an album we were to release, it would perhaps be called "Best of Liverpool Festival + bonus tracks"
