A little bit of everything on the festival menu!

The program for this year's festival is taking shape!

Everything is not completely clear but......

We have never been so early with the program as this year. It is not completely finished and there will most likely be changes along the way. But that said, we have a really strong program where there should be something for everyone. From the pre-show the day before, Wednesday July 30th, at PT's to The Ragamuffins closing the festival on Saturday night, things are happening.

The biggest changes this year are that we are adding more activities to the activity park (LiverKids park) at the festival site. There was a lot of activity there last year, but the news is that we are now also challenging the more adults to use the area. Here, among other things, there will be an opportunity to test your football skills on the 1v1 pitch. It is Kent "Triksepappa" Solheim who will initially challenge the youngest to 1v1 matches, but here it will also be open to the older ones to test themselves against both him and one or more of the legends. It is great to be able to go home from the festival and brag about having beaten Patrik Berger!

What is 1v1? Simply explained, it is two people playing against each other. Here the goal is to be the first to score three goals. You can also win by hitting a tunnel on the opponent. The match is played in a small, enclosed area with a fence around it. Watch the video below

Meet and greet

Many festival attendees come to hang out with the legends, and of course there will be an opportunity for that this year as well. We will be running several live interviews from the Pizzabakeren stage every day and the legends will also be available at the festival area for autographs, selfies and a chat over a beer or two.

You will also meet the legends outside the festival area, such as in the elevator at Strand Hotel, which you will find two entrances from the festival area. If you choose to attend the English Breakfast at Brygga , which is open both Friday and Saturday, you may suddenly end up having eggs and bacon at the same table as Sammy Lee, or maybe John Arne Riise, if he is not still on a strict diet (ref. 16 weeks of hell). And of course there will be live music!

The Miracle in Istanbul

May 25th marks 20 years since the magical Champions League evening in Istanbul. It cannot go unnoticed. We have two of the players who were on the pitch that evening. One played 120 minutes and one was substituted during the match. One had an assist and one scored a goal. We need to talk more about this and have therefore dedicated Thursday's Supporter Dinner to just this. Here are the stories from two who were there. The most enjoyable 90 minutes

A football match lasts 90 minutes plus possible overtime, just like the lunch we organize on Saturday. When you are going to experience a football match, you are never guaranteed that it will be enjoyable. If you lose the match, it is rarely a good experience. Fortunately, we are not going to choose any winners, we are just going to have fun on PI-Taket together with a lovely group of red girls.

Livergirls ONLY is, as the name suggests, an event reserved for all girl supporters who come to the festival. This very special lunch, which we arrange in collaboration with the Supporter Club in Norway, has become a tradition and those who have been there before are the first to buy when we put out tickets for a new lunch. During the 90 minutes there will be bubbles, good food, goodie bags and more, and the legend who will be sharing a table with the girls this year is Patrik Berger . To make it extra enjoyable, we spice it all up with a slightly stripped-down version of The Ragamuffins, with David John Jaggs in the front! For the children

Last year we introduced Liverkids Parken, which is an activity area where children and young people can have a little extra fun. During the festival, all the legends stopped by so that the children who were there could test themselves against them both when it came to frisbee throwing and precision with football. Let's state right away that it wasn't the legends that impressed us when it came to the skills in both of the aforementioned activities. There were many children and young people stopping by for various activities and games throughout the festival days and there were both give aways, Happy Meals from MacDonalds and other surprises for the youngest supporters.

When we open Liverkids Park this year, there will be many of the same activities and, like last year, the park will also be staffed with its own activity workers for much of the festival's opening hours. Read more about the activities in Liverkids Park by clicking on Jan!

Jan Mølby at the Liverpool Festival
Foto: Jonny Isaksen

The music

We have two stages where a lot happens throughout the festival. On the largest stage, the Pepsi Max stage, there will be concerts both late and early. We start already on Thursday with two of the very best bands in Norway within their genre. From Bergen we bring Bon Scotch who pays tribute to AC/DC and the Bon Scott era. The same evening ends with One Vision, which many of last year's festival participants wanted back this year. One Vision is a short-lived band that pays tribute to the treasure trove of songs that Queen has delivered over the years.

Friday continues with lots of music and then the LFC musicians that we have brought over from Liverpool will also take the stage. What a bunch, The Ragamuffins, Andy Hodgson and Kieo. These will be on stage together for the first time, and they will also be visited by Alek, the Bergen native who is becoming a favorite among many supporters. This is going to be absolutely wild. We are guessing that those who are at the festival will brag afterwards that they were there when THE LFC JAM BAND was born! Read more about the new band by clicking on the image below

Saturday continues with live music from the Pepsi Max stage and from both Pondus Bar and Taggy's Festivalbar . There will be troubadours and bands, there will be singing and clapping. It will be quite enjoyable.

Kick Off for the Supporters' Club

Perhaps our most important partner is the Supporterklubben in Norway. They have been present at the festival every year and will of course return once again. They are turning 45 this year and it is rumored that something extra will happen during the festival in connection with that. We have no idea at the time of writing what will happen but they suggest that it will be a great kick off for the celebration of the first 45 years.

and otherwise .......

As before, there will of course be a quiz, raffle to raise money for the 23 Foundation and other organizations, the presentation of the Kato Prize, opportunities to purchase supporter gear, food, ice cream and two generous bars, in addition to the occasional surprise.

We are quite happy with the program we have put together so far and we know there is room for a little more. Now we hope you will be tempted to take a trip to Gjøvik this summer.
